Engineering Lab
Electric Circuits and Electronics
State of the art equipment for instrumentation, measurements and error analysis of electric circuits provide students with the necessary tools to develop, test and troubleshoot modern electronic circuits from prototype to finished product.
Digital Circuits and Microprocessors
Students become acquainted with the design and testing of basic and advanced digital circuits, and with integrating these components into digital systems. Single board microcomputer kits introduce students to design and programming of microprocessors. Various interfacing units such as step-motors, dynamic scanning boards, A/D thermal sensors, 16X16 DM Displays, Opto-Couples, etc. are available. In addition, software for fault-assisted circuits for electronics training, accompanies the digital circuits and microprocessors hardware.
Electronic Communications
Experimental units are provided for the analysis of analogue and digital communication systems. Training is provided in generation, modulation, transmission and reception of analogue and digital signals for various modulation schemes.
Broadcasting
Hardware and accompanying specialised software allow students to experiment with the generation, transmission, reception and measurement of audio and video signals.
Digital Signal Processing
Students are able to undertake real time digital signal processing and digital filter design in this lab. Stations are fully equipped with DSP boards and simulators as well as data acquisition boards and software for the successful implementation of DSP systems.
Data Communications and Computer Networks
Students are provided with essential practical experience in both networking and computer communication, covering all layers of the OSI model.
Networking operating systems, such as Novel Netware 3.X.MS Net, other Netbios based systems and UNIX are available for the students to gain the practical experience necessary for setting-up and maintaining large, complicated networks.
Controls and Educational Robotics
Process control trainer hardware with control simulator software and educational robots are available for measurements and experimentation by the students.
